Summerville Restaurateur to Open Shuckin’ Shack Location in West Ashley

Summerville resident Jason Thorpe next month plans to bring a new restaurant concept to Charleston with the opening of Shuckin’ Shack, the oyster restaurant franchise that currently has three existing locations in the Palmetto State. The new location will be located in West Ashley at 40 Grand Oaks Blvd.

The North Carolina-based franchise first opened in 2007 and began franchising in 2014. Today, Shuckin’ Shack has grown to 16 locations across five states, and soon to be seven, with several more locations slated to open before the end of the year.

Thorpe, an experienced restaurant professional, has held several positions during his 16 years working in the industry. He worked his way from bar manager to franchise owner with the opening of his first Shuckin’ Shack location in Summerville.
