New Dog Wellness Concept Coming to Mt. Pleasant
Scenthound, the nation’s first wellness-focused, membership-based dog grooming concept, is opening its first South Carolina location in Mount Pleasant this November.
The company focuses on the dog’s overall health and wellness, instead of just haircuts. Scenthound focuses on the five core areas of maintenance: Skin, Coat, Ears, Nails and Teeth.
Tara Reddy, the owner of Scenthound Mt Pleasant, was drawn to the concept after finding a bump on her Golden Retriever while giving her a bath in the backyard. The bump turned out to be a cancerous tumor that was able to be successfully removed given how early on it was caught.
“I really didn’t bathe Bella very often at the time, because I didn’t have a good set up for it at home,” Reddy said, “I realized how lucky I was to have found that bump when I did, and that having a pair of hands consistently monitoring your dog’s basic wellness needs is critical to preventative care and your dog’s longevity.”
Scenthound’s monthly package is limited to the essential services that every dog from a Chihuahua to a Bernadoodle needs (a bath, ear cleaning, nail trimming, and teeth brushing), but they also offer the full suite of grooming services. After each visit, you’ll receive a ‘S.C.E.N.T. check’ which is a five-point health assessment of your pup that helps you stay on top of any small issues your dog may have, such as hot spots, allergies, and ear infections which lets you address them before they turn into big problems.
Scenthound Mt Pleasant is located in the Queensborough Shopping Center in Mount Pleasant and is scheduled to open early November.
