Democratic candidate for South Carolina Governor, Senator Mia McLeod, earned the endorsement of Higher Heights for America, the only organization exclusively dedicated to electing more progressive Black women at all levels.

Since its founding in 2014, Higher Heights has invested in a strategy to elect more Black women who will fight for and advance policies that build economically thriving, educated, healthy, and safe communities for Black women, their families, their communities and the nation.

Previous endorsements include Vice President Kamala Harris, Attorney General Tish James of New York, and Representative Lauren Underwood of Illinois.

“Having the support and backing of Higher Heights means so much to me,” said Senator Mia McLeod. “I’m grateful for their confidence in this campaign and our ability to win. I am committed to working every day to build a state where we can all thrive.”

Senator McLeod is a working mom, small business owner, and seventh-generation South Carolinian from Bennettsville, South Carolina. She is a former State Representative, current State Senator representing SC District 22, and recently announced her historic bid as a Democratic candidate for Governor.
