How to Choose CBD Oil: a Comprehensive Guide

Published

on

CBD oil is a natural herbal remedy that is used in neurology, psychiatry, oncology, palliative medicine, and other medical fields. The products available on the market contain a high concentration of cannabidiol and a trace amount of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) – the main psychoactive substance in cannabis. That is why the analgesic, soothing and relaxing effect of the intake is achieved without the feeling of “high” typical for smoking marijuana. Let’s learn in detail how to choose CBD oil for personal usage.

How to choose CBD oil?

There are a number of criteria to rely on when choosing cannabis oil:

1. Cannabidiol concentration

The amount of the main active ingredient in the composition directly correlates with the effect. The smallest dosage is relaxing and soothing but does not relieve severe pain. For example, Delta 8 oil has 600mg and 1200mg concentrations.

2. Ingredients in the composition

The best option is to consider oils with 2-3 components in the composition – CBD and base. The longer the list of ingredients, the more potentially dangerous the oil is for allergy sufferers and people with hypersensitivity.

3. Tetrahydrocannabinol content

The beneficial difference between oils and conventional or medical marijuana is the low or no tetrahydrocannabinol content. This provides protection against psychoactive effects on the central nervous system and addiction. The THC concentration in cannabis oil should not exceed 0.3%. Otherwise, the negative aspects of taking will outweigh the healing benefits.

4. Manufacturer reputation

It is important to buy CBD oils only from trusted manufacturers who grow licensed raw materials, test the finished product in third-party laboratories and have certificates from regulatory authorities. The purchase of products from little-known brands does not guarantee the quality of cannabidiol, the absence of THC, the organic composition, safety, and even therapeutic properties, despite the claims of the manufacturers in the advertisements.

5. Type of oil

All oils can be classified into two categories: full-spectrum and distilled. The second is used for light sedation, normalizing sleep, and relieving emotional and physical stress. Full-spectrum oils are distinguished by a pronounced therapeutic effect – analgesic, relaxing, anticonvulsant, antiemetic, and others.

How to take cannabis oil?

Manufacturers recommend different ways of taking the oil, but sublingual remains the “gold standard”. Using a pipette, 2-3 drops of oil are placed under the tongue and held for 30-90 seconds. The product can be added to food and drinks, but it is not advisable to heat it. Please note that some oils can be used for vaping, while others are absolutely not. Ideally, vaping is carried out using appropriate CBD fluids.

People react differently to CBD oils, so don’t just blindly rely on a positive example from a friend or relative. It is advisable to start the search for a suitable oil with low to moderate concentrations of the active ingredient. Oil dosages are individual. They depend on age, body weight, and metabolic rate. Beginners are advised to purchase oil with a low concentration of CBD and start with 1-2 drops 2-3 times a day, gradually increasing the dosage.
