Jazz Crawl for Charity Returns to Charleston in April 2022
After a two-year hiatus, the Jazz Crawl for Charity parade and party will make its return to Downtown Charleston on April 10th, 2022 to close out April’s 2nd Sunday on King Street festival. The 2019 Jazz Crawl for Charity was canceled due to Hurricane Dorian, followed by the pandemic-related cancellation of 2020.
Featuring performers and cultural artists from both New Orleans and the Charleston area, the event serves as a reintroduction to Jazz Crawl Productions (JCP), which has evolved into a live event, festival production, and digital media company in addition to the production team behind the Jazz Crawl for Charity.
The Jazz Crawl for Charity is a cultural exchange event in which cultural performers native to New Orleans and its distinct parading tradition collaborate with roots cultures in host cities. The 2022 Charleston Jazz Crawl for Charity will highlight the shared musical and cultural preservation traditions of both Charleston and New Orleans.
“We are thrilled to come back to Charleston, where the Jazz Crawl for Charity was born in 2015, and look forward to sharing more details about what’s to come in the future,” saaid Rick Tringali, founder of Jazz Crawl Productions. “We can’t think of a better place to kick off our big return than King Street, where we will parade with members of the Charleston community in jubilation.”
Immediately preceding the Jazz Crawl for Charity on King Street, there will be a Carnival-themed costume party at the Gibbes Museum. More details, including specific programming and parade route information, will be released in the coming weeks and months. Visit JazzCrawl.com/newsletter to sign up for updates.
