CofC Come Up Flat In Second Half, Fall To Oklahoma St. 96-66

Cougars Suffer  Second Straight Loss & First on the Road

Although the College of Charleston men’s basketball held their own during the first 20 minutes of play at Oklahoma State, the Cougars were outpaced in the second half, falling 96-66 to the Cowboys. Coming off their home loss (94-83) to North Carolina last Tuesday, CofC were hoping to get back on track. With the loss CofC fall to 3-2 on the season, with OSU improving to 5-1 overall.

With six players finishing in double figures, Oklahoma State kept a steady pace and shot lights out from the field, making 38 of 67 (57%) from the field, adding 9 of 18 from beyond the arc. Bryce Thompson and Avery Anderson III lead the Cowboy attack with 15 points apiece. Kalib Boone and Bryce Williams added 13 each, with Isaac Likelele and Moussa Cisse chipping in 10 points each.

For the third time this season John Meeks lead all scorers with a season best 22 points for CofC. Reyne Smith and Ben Burnham added 15 and 10 points apiece. The three stats that did the Cougars in were 18 of 61 (28%) from the floor, having 16 shots blocked, and committing a season high 28 turnovers. Trailing by just seven at the half, the Cowboys outscored the Cougars 53-30 over the final 20 minutes of play.

The Cougars held their own for much of the first half using a 13-6 run to take the lead at 34-32 with 2:38 remaining. Oklahoma State responded with an 11-2 run of its own to close the opening half and seize a much needed momentum heading into the locker room at the break.

The Cougars finish out a two-game road swing with a trip to Chattanooga on Saturday, Nov. 27. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. ET at McKenzie Arena.
