Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center Launches “Any Given Tuesday” Campaign for GivingTuesday

Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center, the region’s leading resource to prevent abuse, protect children, and heal families, is participating in GivingTuesday with its “Any Given Tuesday” campaign. GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement that follows Black Friday and Cyber Monday, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.
So far this year, Dee Norton has served 769 children with forensic interviews, mental health assessments and therapy. The “Any Given Tuesday” campaign spotlights an inspiring story to demonstrate the importance of the essential services Dee Norton provides.
On any given Tuesday, Dee Norton serves as many as five children who have experienced trauma and abuse. Hanna’s* experience with abuse left her feeling insecure, angry, alone and helpless.
“When I went to Dee Norton, I was not going to tell anyone there about what happened. I was not answering any more questions. Why would they believe me? Instead of asking me a bunch of questions, the lady I met there listened. She made it easy to talk to her and I ended up telling her everything. I know now, I am safe. My abuse no longer has control over me. I am going to finish school and achieve my goals.”
“It is stories like Hanna’s that humble us and remind us how essential our work is each and every day. Support from the community is vital in helping children like Hanna work through their trauma and move forward with their life. We are incredibly grateful for every individual who has supported us in our mission,” said Beverly Hutchison, Executive Director of Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center. “Because of generous donations from our community, families receive expert and comprehensive services at no charge to the family. Through continual donations and support, we are working together as a community to change the world one child at a time.”
Now in its 30th year, Dee Norton has served 30,000 children and relies on community-funded philanthropy and grants to support the services provided to children.
“We rely on grants and generous donations to continue to serve the Lowcountry,” said Hutchison. “Our participation on this international day of giving will help us provide and expand our much-needed services to those who truly deserve the best care – our children.”
