Firefly Distillery Releasing Limited Edition Barrel Proof Bourbon
Firefly Distillery is releasing a special edition Barrel Proof Bourbon on Monday, December 13th. Featuring a limited run of only 192 bottles, this barrel proof bourbon is aged for six years and bottled at cask strength, 121.2 proof.
“We released our first cask strength bourbon last year and it sold out within 24 hours,” said head distiller and general manager Jay Macmurphy. “What really drew us to this barrel for our most prized pick this year was the lingering complex finish of cocoa nib, and robust tobacco and herbal notes.”
Firefly Distillery has been bottling select single barrel bourbons intermittently throughout 2021, but they said none are as special as barrel proof bourbon. The distillery said that cask strength is the purest form of the spirit – uncut, unfiltered – and each single barrel bourbon release is “a distinctive experience as every bottle can be traced back to one barrel.” Each barrel can age differently, depending if it was stored on ground level, near a window, or the weather it was exposed to throughout its aging process, all contributing to the flavor profile of the bourbon.
The Distillery is releasing this new Barrel Proof Bourbon on the 75th birthday of co-owner Jim Irvin. In that same vein, each bottle will be $75 to celebrate the occassion. Each bottle is hand labeled with its unique proof and batch number and is hand sealed with a black wax. The bourbon is available exclusively at the distillery located in Park Circle and its limited quantity means they are only offering one purchase per person.
