Berkeley County Library System and Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital Collaborate to Provide a “My 1st Library Card” for Newborns
Berkeley County Library System (BLCS) and Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital are collaborating to bring early literacy to parents with a variety of items including a My 1st Library Card for babies born at Roper St. Francis Healthcare Berkeley Hospital.
BCLS wishes to increase awareness of early literacy, library resources, and services by providing a My 1st Library Card to parents, a 1000 Books Before Kindergarten reading initiative, South Carolina State Library Day By Day Literacy Calendar, Story Time, Monthly Reading Challenges, and resources for parents and children. *Items included in each book bag consist of a children’s book, BCLS decals/pen/pencil, Help Me Grow Bookmark, Reading and Growth Chart, Literacy Calendar, and a My 1st Library Card. *Items in book bag are subject to change.
BCLS My 1st Book Bags are being distributed to parents of newborns at the Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital located at 100 Callen Blvd, Summerville, SC 29486
Parents will be able to give their child a head start on learning and literacy. Parents are encouraged to visit any one of our seven branches and the Mobile Library.
