South Carolina Law Firm files class action against Procter and Gamble for carcinogenic aerosol antiperspirants
Class action attorneys from Anastopoulo Law Firm filed a South Carolina Class Action on behalf of South Carolinians who bought Procter & Gamble (P&G) Company’s Old Spice and Secret aerosol spray antiperspirants and Old Spice Below Deck aerosol spray products.
Packaged in aerosol spray cans, the suit alleges that the popular P&G products contained amounts of benzene dangerous to human life. Exposure to benzene can occur by inhalation, orally, and through the skin and it can result in cancers including leukemia and blood cancer of the bone marrow and blood disorders which can be life-threatening. Although P&G notified retailers to remove their product from shelves across the county, the damage was already done as 18 known lots of Old Spice and Secret aerosol spray antiperspirants and Old Spice Below Deck aerosol spray products have been found to contain the dangerous chemical.
“This is an important case for millions of consumers nationally,” said Roy T. Willey IV, lead attorney on the case. “When people buy well known brands such as Secret and Old Spice aerosols they do not expect they may be exposed to poisonous chemicals by using them. We look forward to pursuing justice for the people.”
