Local Americana Duo Staggers and Jags Announce Debut Album
Staggers and Jags, the local Americana duo composed of fiddle player James Anderson and songwriter/guitarist/vocalist G. Stevens, will release their debut album, Pour It Out, on February 4th. It will be available on all major streaming platforms.
The band describes the record’s sound as “a parade through an American folk music hall of mirrors.” The ten original songs were penned by Stevens, who says the songs reflect the variety of styles that define the band’s sound.
“The record touches on all these different corners of the American folk songbook,” Stevens said. “The songs nod to bluegrass, traditional folk, gypsy, western swing, and more, but are all rooted in the guitar and fiddle combination that is essential to our sound.”
The record was recorded by Jay Miley at Charleston Recording Studio, with additional home recording taking place in Charleston and Nashville. It was mixed by the band and mastered by Phil Spencer in Austin, TX.
In addition to Anderson and Stevens, the record features upright bass from Fuller Condon (Two Man Gentlemen Band), vocalist Becca Bessinger (The Letter Show), banjoist Justin Parrish (Jam Grass All Stars), and Nashville-based pedal steel player Kyle Everson.
