Press Release

Six years after opening her boutique fitness and wellness studio in the penthouse level at 163 Rutledge Avenue, Longevity Fitness Charleston (LFC) owner Jennie Brooks has purchased the entire four-story building allowing her business to grow even further. Brooks opened Longevity Fitness Center in November 2015 as a boutique fitness and wellness studio, bringing her well curated and innovative ideas on fitness and wellness to the Charleston peninsula. Since then, she and her team have expanded what was only the penthouse level to include a 2,000 sq. ft. wraparound Zen garden terrace as well as incorporating the floor below it.

The step of purchasing the entire building has always been in the back of her mind. Brooks says, “when I opened Longevity Fitness Charleston in 2015, I dreamed of expanding the business footprint to something as large as the entire building but it was important that I grew at the right pace to maintain a level of quality and service for which we have become known.”

With a buildout completion date estimated in spring 2022, Longevity Fitness Charleston will occupy almost the entirety of the four-story building. The newly acquired second floor will transition into “The Club” level where guests and members can work out on their own with cardio and weight machines by Technogym and Cybex. Also on the new floor, Brooks will introduce a second Pilates apparatus studio for private training, a Zen studio for sound bath meditation, infrared Pilates mat, yoga, and stretch classes, and additional lockers and private shower rooms. Finally, to round out the expansion, the LFC wellness offerings will get a dedicated space with an acupuncture and holistic healing studio operated by Tarah Herrington of Well Rounded Healing and chiropractic care, functional medicine, and nutritional counseling operated by Bradley Bruner of Bruner Wellness.

Brooks will keep her highly coveted personal training on the third floor where guests will receive the utmost attention to detail in a private setting with bespoke design. Other amenities will include a private recovery lounge with infrared sauna and a Zero Gravity Massage Chair. The fourth floor will remain as it is with the penthouse Pilates reformer studio, small-class studio specializing in TRX, HIIT, and Brooks’ signature class, Sweat Therapy. The 2,000 sq. foot wraparound patio on the fourth floor will continue to host member happy hours, outdoor classes, and other private events. Brooks says of the plans, “my team and I are very passionate about fitness and we pride ourselves on getting to know our clients, listening to what they want, and elevating their member experience.” She continues, “we are all looking forward to expanding our offerings to encompass a holistic approach to wellness for our Charleston community.”

With the expansion, LFC will update the membership offerings but keep it capped to ensure the safety and comfort level of each client. Visit LongevityFitnessCharleston.com and follow the team on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for updates, offers and specials.
