Jack of Cups Saloon Unveils Winter Menu Inspired by Hungarian and Czech Flavors

Jack of Cups Saloon on Folly Beach has announced its new seasonal menu that is inspired by classic Hungarian and Czech dishes. Named one of Yelp’s Top 100 Places to Eat in 2021, Jack of Cups has been serving up European, Asian, and Indian fusion dishe – with extensive vegan and vegetarian options – since 2014.

Right now, diners can enjoy appetizers, salad courses, and main dishes fused with classic central European flavors including paprika, dill, cabbage, cucumber and sour cream.

“I am excited to launch a new menu with dishes not often found in the Lowcountry, and this menu is especially exciting to me because these are dishes I grew up eating with my Hungarian and Czech family,” said Lesley Carroll, co-owner and executive chef of Jack of Cups. “Creating this menu felt like returning home, and I am excited for guests to taste these dishes and the love behind them.”

Appetizers, or eloétel, include Lángos, a favorite Hungarian street food made of fried bread, garlic butter and Liptauer, a mixture of goat cheese, cucumber, and dill. Salads, or saláták, include Uborka (cucumber) Salata and a Hungarian Cabbage Salad. Main dishes, or foettel, include a Bean Goulash made with potato, carrot, red bean, pickle, and rice; and Halupki made with braised & brined cabbage leaves stuffed with rice, ground beef, and savory tomato sauce. Desserts, or desszert, include turnovers with berry filling and vanilla cream puffs with spicy chocolate and smoked sea salt.

Jack of Cups Saloon is also offering Hungarian-inspired cocktails like Clooster Fröccs, a favorite drink in Hungary made with wine, soda water, and bitters; and CBR made with Becherovka blend, orange soda, agave, and citrus.
