BCLS to Distribute FREE Take-Home COVID-19 Rapid (Antigen) or Saliva (PCR) Test Kits at Alvin Recreation Center

Berkeley County Library System (BCLS) will distribute FREE Take-Home COVID-19 Rapid (Antigen) or Saliva (PCR) Test Kits on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 11 am – 12:30 pm.  The event will take place at the Alvin Recreation Center located at 2191 Santee River Rd in St. Stephen. Library customers are invited to attend.

*COVID-19 Rapid (Antigen) or Saliva (PCR) Test Kits are provided by SCDHEC and are subject to availability.

“Berkeley County Library System is excited to collaborate with SCDHEC to provide Take-Home COVID-19 Rapid (Antigen) or Saliva (PCR) Test Kits to library customers,” said Gene Brunson, MLIS, Library Director. “The ability for the library to provide accessible and convenient health literacy is a powerful resource for many in the community.”

“The COVID-19 Rapid (Antigen) Test Kits are easy to use, have received emergency use authorization, and provide a result in minutes as opposed to hours or days,” said this SCDHEC News Release. “While the brand of test that DHEC receives may change over time, the authorization, ease of use, and resulting times will not. At-home test results are not required to be reported to DHEC but can help an individual take appropriate action to monitor their health and prevent the spread of COVID-19 to others.”
