BCLS Virtual Storytime Returns to Facebook
Berkeley County Library System (BCLS) invites customers to return to our Facebook page Tuesday, February 1st, at 10:30 am, and continuing Tuesday mornings, for Virtual Storytime. Customers will enjoy seeing and hearing library staff read stories of colorful characters while increasing children’s early literacy skills.
In 2020, BCLS switched from in-person Storytime to Virtual Storytime on Facebook while the pandemic swung the pendulum to virtual programming. Presently, since COVID-19 cases have again soared, BCLS continues to dedicate safety as a priority by providing Virtual Storytime as a safe alternative for parents and children.
“Children who are read one or two books each week begin kindergarten having heard more than 63,500 words,” said Heather Bennett, Virtual Storytime Coordinator. “We’re proud to be a small part of that, and we hope our stories will be something families can build on. It’s also just a lot of fun!”
Our first Virtual Storytime guest reader will be Michael Nelson, Branch Librarian for Cane Bay Library, who is also known as Mr. Mike. He will kick us off with Some Pets written by Angela DiTerlizzi and illustrated by Brendan Wenzel. It is a great story about the many varieties of animals we call friends and pets. Join us each Tuesday morning at 10:30 am on Facebook.
