Former Charleston City Paper Editor Launches Local News Podcast
Sam Spence, former editor of the Charleston City Paper, on Friday launched NOW Charleston, a first-of-its-kind local news podcast.
“I started NOW Charleston because it’s something I’ve always wanted as an avid podcast listener,” Spence said.
Spence said shows, which will be about 15 minutes long, will focus on a handful of stories driving headlines locally and statewide, from politics to food and culture. Episodes will be published at nowchs.com three days per week, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
“I’m excited to experiment with NOW Charleston and continue tweaking to make the show better based on listener feedback,” Spence said.
NOW Charleston is available on all the major podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and others. Each episode will also be available at nowchs.com, where links, photos, and other info for each story will be posted.
Spence just wrapped up a nine-year run with the Charleston City Paper, where he worked as editor and web editor. He attended tghe College of Charleston, studying political science as well as historic preservation and community planning.
