Southbound 17 Releases New Single

Published

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, local band Southbound 17 has released a new single about heart break. “Runaway Bride” tells the story of a bride-to-be who decides at the last minute to not go through with the ceremony.

“I sell wedding dresses for my day job,” said singer Katie Bailey. “Sometimes I will sell a dress to someone and then they don’t come to pick it up. Later we usually find out that’s because the wedding was called off. Over the years, I have heard some crazy stories of reasons brides didn’t make it down the aisle.”

The first few lines draw from the old adage about needing “something borrowed, something blue, something old, and something new.” The turn of phrase takes those good luck items and replaces them with the reality of a relationship not being cut out for a lasting marriage, no matter how hard you try.

“Runaway Bride” is the follow up to the band’s 2021 EP Somewhere in the Neon and is now available for streaming everywhere, including below.
