Montage Palmetto Bluff to Host 3rd “Barbecue University” with PBS TV Host & Grilling Expert Steven Raichlen
Montage Palmetto Bluff is hosting its third annual Barbecue University™ with Steven Raichlen, popular PBS TV host, multi-award-winning author, and internationally renowned grilling expert.
From June 12th to 15th, the three-day event, ranked the #1 barbecue experience in the U.S. by Food Network, will feature classes teaching guests how to master the art of live-fire cooking and grilling under Raichlen’s guidance and supervision. Each three-hour class starts with a Southern breakfast and concludes with a lunch of the day’s creations.
Along with BBQ tips and tricks, guests will learn the in’s and out’s of grilling such as:
- How to Light and Control a Fire
- BBQ & Summer Grilling Mistakes and How to Fix Them
- How to Harness the Flavor-Enhancing Power of Wood Smoke in Everything from Appetizers to Desserts
- Best Spices for BBQ & Summer Veggies

Along with Barbecue University™, the resort is gearing up to debut its new River House restaurant this spring. The new concept will offer an array of seasonal ingredients and fresh vegetables served alongside meats and seafood. Cocktails and a curated wine list will also be available.
