Joe Cunningham Unveils Campaign Staff in “Family Matters”-Style Video

Former United States Representative and current Democratic candidate for governor, Joe Cunningham, unveiled his staff for his 2022 campaign for governor on Monday. Cunningham introduced his campaign in a Family Matters-style video, which you can see below.

Since announcing in April, Cunningham’s campaign say they have raised over $1.5 million and visited over half of South Carolina’s 46 counties. Cunningham has unveiled plans to fight corruption, legalize marijuana, tackle gun violence, expand voting rights, and recently announced his support for legalizing sports betting.

“I am excited to formally announce the members of my campaign team,” said Cunningham. “This is a diverse and experienced team that is built to win and prepared to make history in November. I’m honored to be fighting alongside each and every one of them as we lead South Carolina out of the past and into the future.”

The Cunningham Campaign shared the following detail’s about the team:

Trevor Maloney, Campaign Manager

Trevor Maloney is a native of West Palm Beach, FL, where he cut his political teeth on President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign in 2012. In 2016, he joined former Congressman Patrick Murphy’s campaign for U.S. Senate in Florida as a regional political director. Since then, Trevor has gained campaign experience on every level of the ballot, ranging from municipal to federal races. As a campaign manager, he has built a strong track record of electing Democrats in traditionally Republican strongholds across the country.

Jade Tacka, Deputy Campaign Manager and Finance Director

Jade Tacka has led the fundraising operation of several top congressional races in battleground states, as well as one of the largest state parties in the country – the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. This cycle, Jade returns as deputy campaign manager and finance director, after she surpassed the record in Cunningham’s 2020 re-election campaign for most money raised of any congressional candidate in South Carolina’s history.

Tyler Jones, Senior Adviser

Tyler Jones served as general consultant and lead strategist for Cunningham’s 2018 and 2020 campaigns for Congress. He is the founder and CEO of SPEAK Strategic Public Affairs, LLC. He is the former executive director of the South Carolina House Democratic Caucus and has served in leadership roles for three presidential campaigns in South Carolina. He and his wife Lauren live on Johns Island with their two children.

Bre Spaulding, Political Director

Bre Spaulding is a native of McDonough, GA, but after graduating from Columbia College she now calls Columbia home. In 2017, Bre launched her own political and business consulting firm, electing Democrats throughout the state and moving many of the state’s prized businesses forward. Bre joins the team with a wealth of South Carolina political knowledge working on campaigns of all levels.

Jose Casey, Outreach Director

Jose was born in Quito, Ecuador to a US Peace Corps father and Ecuadorian mother. He moved to the United States at age 6 and grew up in Columbus, Ohio. He has spent most of his career in IT, politics, and government. Jose loves to travel, swim, and play golf, chess, and scrabble competitively. Most recently, Jose served as the senior field representative in former Congressman Joe Cunningham’s congressional office.

Bre Maxwell, Senior Adviser

Bryanta “Bre” Maxwell is Principal and CEO of Indigo Consulting, LLC, an advocacy, consulting, and community relations firm based in Columbia, South Carolina. Bre previously worked for Jaime Harrison for the U.S. Senate in South Carolina and Majority Whip, Congressman James E. Clyburn, where she served as his District Scheduler and Executive Assistant. Bre is recently responsible for winning the Mayor of Hartsville race. She has worked on numerous local races throughout South Carolina.

Juan Munoz, Call Time Manager

Juan Munoz was born in Rionegro, Colombia and moved with his mother to Greenville, SC when he was five years old. Their experience becoming U.S Citizens led him to an interest in a career in politics. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of South Carolina, and prior to joining the Cunningham campaign worked on presidential and state senate races in the state. He currently lives in Charleston, where he likes to golf in his free time.

Rebekah Hulihen, Creative Director

Rebekah is a graduate of Clemson University where she majored in Graphic Communications and began working in Charleston in April of 2020. On Joe’s campaign, Rebekah enjoys finding innovative methods of communicating with the public through any creative means possible as the Creative Director. She is also an accomplished dancer and artist in her free time.

Heaven Hale, Communications Manager

Heaven Hale is originally from Jacksonville, FL. She received her Bachelor’s in Political Science from the University of South Florida and her Master’s in Political Communication from American University. Since moving to South Carolina, Heaven has worked on several municipal and state-level campaigns in both managerial and communications roles. She is an avid foodie and baker in her free time.

Kwadjo Campbell, Upstate Political Director

Kwadjo Campbell leads the Upstate Team and, in addition to being the CEO of JC & Associates, is a former state political director of a presidential campaign in South Carolina, is a public-school educator, a former City of Charleston Council member, and has managed numerous successful campaigns for state house and local offices in South Carolina.
