Film Screening and Panel Discussion to Defend Abortion Access in SC
A coalition of reproductive health, rights, and justice advocates and organizations in partnership with the Women’s and Gender Studies program and Planned Parenthood Generation Action at the College of Charleston will host a film screening and panel discussion on Sunday, February 27th in Charleston to defend abortion access and reproductive freedom.
Jane: An Abortion Service is a fascinating political look at a little-known chapter in gender justice movement history. The film tells the story of “Jane,” the Chicago-based women’s health group who performed nearly 12,000 safe illegal abortions between 1969 and 1973 with no formal medical training. Following the film is a panel discussion featuring leaders in the movement for reproductive health, rights, and justice.
Admission is free and open to the public. Tickets are available here, and seating will be outdoors and limited to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Masks will be required, and the event will align with the College of Charleston’s COVID protocols. The program begins at 7 pm in the College of Charleston’s Stern Center Gardens at 71 George Street.
