Husk Announces an Exciting New Chapter with Leadership Changes
The Neighborhood Dining Group, the team behind Husk, Minero, and Delaney Oyster House, on Monday announced that Husk in downtown Charleston, has welcomed two new faces to the leadership team: Steven Chandler, who joined the team as General Manager earlier this year, and Executive Chef Ray England, who will officially start on Monday, March 7th.
The pair take over those roles from Neighborhood Dining Group veterans Chef Travis Grimes and Kevin King – who was recently named the opening General Manger at forthcoming Minero Johns Island.
Chef England grew up on a cattle ranch in rural Idaho and has cooked in kitchens across the country – from Alaska to California – but most notably spent over eight years at Craft, Top Chef’s Tom Colicchio’s farm-to-table restaurant in Los Angeles. There, he worked under Michelin-starred Chef Accarrino as Chef de Cuisine. It was an opportunity with Craft Culinary Director Damon Wise that brought England to Charleston to open Scarecrow and Co. in 2015.
Chef England said he is excited to put his own touch on Husk’s ingredient driven menu, bringing “feeling and meaning into every dish,” as well as additional wood-fired techniques to “revitalize classic Southern preparations and introduce new dishes along the way.”
Chandler spent time as a Sous Chef under Chef David Harker of Omni Hotels & Resorts, before making the transition to front of house in 2015, where he held various management positions at Kayne Prime Steakhouse and The Otaku Group in Nashville.
