Palmetto Goodwill’s Remodeled RV Provides South Carolinans Career Resources
Palmetto Goodwill recently announced its new mobile Career Opportunity Center, “The Navigator.” The remodeled RV, once one of the company’s very own donations, is designed to reach the community that doesn’t have access to Goodwill’s physical Career Opportunity Center locations. Its first debut will be this Saturday, March 5th, at Palmetto Goodwill’s own Hippie Dash 5k at James Island County Park.
The Navigator houses computer stations with internet access, connection to a multifunction printer/document scanner and a projector for workshops and presentations. Through this, the public can receive assistance in applying for unemployment, help in job searches, opportunities for online training and professional certifications, resume and interviewing help, and more. Palmetto Goodwill also sees this as an opportunity to lean in with other community organizations.
“We are excited to send our state-of-the-art mobile career navigator out into the community,” said Brian Itzkowitz, Palmetto Goodwill president and CEO. “This training center equipped with five computer workstations and internet to serve people with limited access to that technology. As a result, we will be able to offer job readiness services in real time while bringing new opportunities to people looking for a different career or a better career. Because at Goodwill, we believe everyone has the opportunity to thrive and lead the life they want to lead.”
Communities and events can skip the hassle and request the RV to come directly to them by filling out this form. Outside of the RV, physical COC’s are still open if individuals want a career, assistance navigating a career change, and more. Career Navigators can be reached at 843-408-6030, or by email at intake@palmettogoodwill.org. The RV aims to knock down more barriers to employment, allowing the nonprofit to further its mission of helping people reach their full potential.
