It’s Schmear Again: Jeni’s Everything Bagel Ice Cream Returns for a Limited Time
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream announced that their Everything Bagel ice cream, the flavor that divided the internet last year, will make its much anticipated return on March 21st and will be available while supplies last.
The flavor sold out so quickly last year that most people didn’t get a chance to try it. A spokesperson for Jeni’s said that since its debut, Everything Bagel has been the company’s most requested, most-searched-for flavor. This year, Jeni’s said they want to give everyone a chance to snag a spoonful and weigh in on what they think.
Although you may be unsure of the flavor, Jeni’s said, “you can’t dispute that it tastes exactly like an everything bagel. Dense, salty, barely sweet cream cheese ice cream with a buttery streusel (made from scratch in our Columbus kitchen) laden with sesame, poppy seeds, onions, and garlic. Everything Bagel has the perfect balance of sweet, salty, and savory—and is just plain delicious.”
The company said the flavor wasn’t created for shock value as pairing everything bagel seasoning with ice cream has been a thing at Jeni’s for years. Everything bagel gravel (their catchall term for a crunchy streusel) was first available in scoop shops as a topping in the summer of 2013. There’s also a recipe for that same gravel in Founder Jeni Britton’s 2014 cookbook, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream Desserts.
