County Council Responds to Passing of Federal Spending Bill
Charleston County Council Chairman Teddie Pryor released the following statement regarding the passing of the Federal Spending Bill, which will bring the County $16.1 million for the Airport Connector Road Project.
“On behalf of Charleston County Council, I would like to thank Senator Lindsey Graham for his work securing much needed federal funding to improve access to our busy Charleston International Airport. As our community continues to grow, more citizens are regularly using the airport in their personal and professional lives. This new access roadway will make everyday life easier for many, and we are grateful for Senator (Lindsey) Graham’s focus and efforts on behalf of Charleston County. Our county and our region will be well served by this expansion which will be instrumental in keeping South Carolina competitive on many fronts and by the senator’s attention and commitment to this community’s infrastructure needs.”
The purpose of the Airport Connector Road is to separate airport and commuter traffic from Boeing traffic by providing direct access to Charleston International Airport from I-526.
