Tri-County S.P.E.A.K.S. to Host Several April Events for Sexual Assault Awareness Month
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) and Tri-County S.P.E.A.K.S. is hosting several events that span all three counties. There are so many ways for community members to get involved. You can see the full event schedule listed below.
- April 20th
- Survivor Speak Out and Candlelight Vigil, Hutchinson Square, Summerville, 6pm
- Survivors and their loved ones are invited to share their experiences and meet one another so that they will know they are never alone. Following the speak out, there will be a brief candlelight vigil for reflection and healing.

- April 25th
- Healing Yoga in the Park, John McCants Park, Goose Creek, 6pm
- Led by a trauma-informed instructor, this activity will be helpful and soothing for survivors. Event is suitable for all levels, even beginners
- Please bring a mat or towel you are comfortable using on grass, and your own water bottle

- April 27th
- Denim Day
- For 30 years, people around the world have worn denim on April 27th to show that being assaulted has nothing to do with the clothes you wear. This can be celebrated virtually. Take a picture in your denim and share it on social media with the hashtag #TCSDenimDay
- April 28th
- Take Back the Night, Wragg Square, Charleston, 6pm
- Rally and march to bring awareness to sexual violence. Bring your own signs and a lot of energy!
