The Charleston Place to Serve Up Tennis Programming, Host Easter Eggstravaganza
The Charleston Place is introducing new programming throughout April designed to celebrate the Credit One Charleston Open and Easter. From April 2nd through the 10th, the hotel will serve as the downtown headquarters for the Credit One Charleston Open, the largest women’s only tennis tournament in North America, with activations ranging from a large-scale tennis ball pit and courtyard ping pong games to off-site match-watching from the hotel’s outdoor projector. Once the tournament concludes, The Charleston Place says it will transform into a “springtime oasis with abundant florals, bunny shaped topiaries, and a first-ever community-wide Easter Eggstravaganza taking place on Easter Sunday, April 17th.”
During the eight-day tennis tournament, The Charleston Place says they will debut décor, activities, and installations “designed to capture the essence of the tournament while stirring the senses of guests and locals.” Starting on April 1st, the hotel’s lobby will feature a new centerpiece, a large-scale tennis ball pit and umpire chair, nestled under the iconic glass chandelier. Visitors of all ages can embrace their inner child by immersing themselves in the ball pit, filled with over 10,000 purple and white tennis balls. Down the hallway in The Palmetto Café Courtyard, guests will find two ping pong tables ideal for enjoying an impromptu game of table tennis, and in the Market Street Circle, a large-scale projector will display live match footage from 10 am to 5 pm daily for. Guests and locals can also purchase special tennis themed cocktails at The Thoroughbred Club.
Once the tournament concludes, The Charleston Place will blossom for spring with florals and greenery from SYG Designs, including thousands of tulips hung from the entryway awnings and oversized bunny-shaped topiaries in Market Street Circle. On April 17th, the City of Charleston will close Market Street between King and Meeting Streets for the community’s first-ever Easter Eggstravaganza, spanning an entire city block. The event will start at 12:30 pm, with live music, food & beverage offerings, meet and greets with the Easter Bunny, and a live bunny pop-up, and will culminate with an Easter egg hunt. More than 10,000 eggs, including five golden eggs with special prizes, will be scattered across the faux “lawn” for kids ages 12 and under to search for. Hunts will be organized in two groups based on age, and advance reservations via The Charleston Place website are required in order to participate.
“We strive to captivate the hearts and imaginations of others, and are thrilled to work with the City of Charleston to create a community-wide Easter event that will become a tradition for years to come,” said Bob Megargle, Managing Director, The Charleston Place. “Similar to our other holiday events, the tennis and Easter activations aim to bring people together for the purpose of celebration and connection.”
