GCM Dinner Club Welcomes Rep. Nancy Mace, Donates All Proceeds to Going Places
Press Release
The GCM Dinner Club, an exclusive series, hosted its second event on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Edmund’s Oast Restaurant. GCM welcomed Congresswoman Nancy Mace as its guest of honor and will be donating all proceeds from the event to Charleston’s own nonprofit Going Places.
At the event, Rep. Mace spoke with each guest individually and provided updates and insights into some of the most pressing issues facing the Lowcountry and the United States. Rep. Mace spoke about her recent trip to Eastern Europe and the war in Ukraine, her States Reform Act bill and her commitment to representing her constituents’ interests before party politics, among other topics.
“It was not only great to talk to everyone about the work I’m doing in Congress, it was also a valuable opportunity for me to listen to everyone about the issues that matter most to them,” said Representative Mace. “I thank Zach and GCM for having me and for their leadership in hosting this event. And I thank them for donating the proceeds to such a worthy cause.”
The GCM Dinner Club series brings together Charleston’s most influential and dedicated business and community leaders to connect on a human level and support causes in the Lowcountry. The second event of the series was held in a private room at the famous Edmund’s Oast Restaurant in downtown Charleston. Proceeds from the event of approximately $2,000 will be donated to Going Places.
The event was limited to 10 people to ensure each person had an opportunity to spend quality time with Rep. Mace and the other guests. Those in attendance included leaders from Cobb Dill & Hammett, First National Bank, Going Places, Giglio Communications & Marketing, IBM, Rev Federal Credit Union, Sweetgrass Capital and Trophy Inc.
“With everything she is doing for our district, we are very fortunate to have been able to spend so much quality time with Rep. Mace,” said GCM CEO Zach Giglio. “Rep. Mace is a true community leader. Her willingness to listen to us and give us candid insights into some of the most important issues of our time is a testament to her character and dedication to our community.”
Going Places provides disadvantaged children with custom bikes. These custom bikes are a critical part of a child’s social emotional health as they provide a sense of freedom and escape from an often unpredictable home life, ownership over something of value and restored innocence when often that has been taken. Going Places doesn’t just provide individual children with bikes, but actually donates bikes to entire low income elementary schools at once – this is 400-600 bikes.
“The second GCM Dinner Club event did not disappoint. Rep. Nancy Mace was a delight to chat with about world issues and lighter topics in our personal lives,” said Going Places Executive Director Katie Blomquist. “This dinner was so fun, and Edmund’s Oast was amazing. I look forward to this event every quarter and am thankful for the donations these events deliver.”
The time, location and guest of honor for the next GCM Dinner Club event will be announced in the coming weeks. Community and business leaders interested in attending can contact GCM at hello@whoisgcm.com.
