Local Author to Release Service Dog Book on April 12th
Local author Lynn Cobb is releasing her new book, Good Dogs of Service, on April 12th, 2022. The book, featuring the stories of 20 service dogs and working K-9s, will be available online and in-store at various local bookstores.
“I am grateful and honored to be able to present my book Good Dogs of Service,” Cobb said. “It has been a long time dream of mine to show the world these amazing dogs and the incredible work they do in the world with their dedicated handlers. There is so much daily training, dedication and love that goes into making these dogs who they are.”
As a portrait photographer for 30 years, Cobb began this personal photo project as a side project and watched it evolve into so much more. Her hope is that by sharing the stories and beautiful photos of these highly trained, “professional” dogs who we see all the time in our everyday lives, she can show the world just how meaningful they are to society and those around us.
The book’s mission is to raise awareness of these dogs, and allow the world to see their super powers that make them so important to the people they serve. From guide dogs, hearing dogs, PTSD service dogs, military K-9s, and search dogs, these animals are vital to our society in ways many of us never see. Throughout the book there are beautiful portraits, but even more important are the stories from the handlers themselves sharing the special bonds they have developed with their dogs.
