Press Release

Charleston County Public Works will host two public meetings for the Main Road Corridor: Segment C Project, Bohicket Road Improvements – Maybank Highway to Betsy Kerrison Parkway. Meetings will take place at St. John’s Parrish Church, located at 3673 Maybank Highway on Johns Island on April 28th, 2022, and May 12th, 2022, from 3 pm – 7 pm. The same materials will be presented at both drop-in style meetings.

Residents will have an opportunity to see the updated proposed alternatives and talk to the project team. Alternatives have been refined based on comments received during the first public information meeting in 2020. All meeting materials will also be on the project website beginning April 28th.

The public comment period will begin April 28th and end on May 27th. Residents can submit comments online on the project website, at either of the in-person meetings, or by mailing them to the project manager, Herbert Nimz, at 4045 Bridge View Drive, Suite B309 in North Charleston. The project team will use these comments to help shape the future of the project.

The purpose of this project is to reduce congestion, increase capacity on Main Road/Bohicket Road from Maybank Highway to Betsy Kerrison Parkway, and to provide opportunities for bicyclists and pedestrians to safely travel throughout the project area. The Main Road Corridor Project is a featured project of regional significance funded through the 2016 Half Cent Sale Tax. If you have any questions regarding the upcoming meeting or the project, please contact Charleston County Public Works at (843) 202-7600 or email roads@charlestoncounty.org.
