She’s the Veteran to Host 2nd Annual Women Veterans Day Celebration in June
She’s the Veteran, a women veteran’s only community, announced the 2nd Annual Women Veterans Day Celebration starting at 6 pm on June 11th, 2022, at the Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park.
She’s the Veteran was established by a dedicated community of female veterans in 2020 and, as of 2022, is now an IRS tax-exempt nonprofit organization. Their mission is to work with female veterans by providing a supportive community, strengthen their mental health through programmatic activities, and spearhead research for improving their health and mental health.
Women Veterans Day Celebration’s ticket price is inclusive of an open bar, food from It Takes 2 Catering, and free giveaways from Tory Burch, the Woodhouse Day Spa, Chiropractic USA with Dr. Matt Murrin, and many others. This year’s emcee is Tessa Spencer, a US Army Reserves and Gulf War veteran who is now a co-anchor at ABC News 4 and a personality on local radio station Magic 107.3. The All Saints Quilting group will also be honoring three women veterans with an award from Quilts of Valor.
With over 45,000 women veterans in the state of South Carolina, She’s the Veteran is working to bridge the gap of a well-needed community for these women to plug into. This organization is inclusive of Active Duty, Reserves, National Guard, Retired, or any prior service, regardless of time served. The purpose of this event is to celebrate women veterans that are often regarded as “invisible,” commemorate their sacrifice, and also take a much needed “mental health” break women so often forget to do. The organization says their number one mission is improving mental health in the female veteran. In line with that goal, this event is for women veterans ONLY so that spouses, moms, and caregivers can get a night off and simply enjoy each other’s company.
“My hope for this event is that women come out and celebrate both themselves and each other,” said Brooke Jackson Kahn, founder and executive director. “Their service counts and they need to know how much they are appreciated. This will be a very special night for them.”
To make this evening affordable for attendees, She’s the Veteran is currently recruiting sponsors to fund this event and continue their overall mission. Sponsor packets are now being circulated throughout the business, government, and private sectors.
