Charleston Dragon Boat Festival Returns on May 7th

Published

on

After a two-year, pandemic-related absence, Dragon Boat Charleston (DBC), a local organization promoting the physical and mental wellness of cancer survivors and their community through dragon boating, will once again host their Charleston Dragon Boat Festival on Saturday, May 7th from 8 am to 4 pm at Brittlebank Park.

According to the organization, it costs an average of $2,000 per person annually to participate with Dragon Boat Charleston (that does not include travel costs to local, regional, and sometimes international races). Their mission is to make sure cancer survivors are able to participate without ever paying that cost. Proceeds from the festival pay for the expenses of DBC cancer survivor paddling programs, nutrition and yoga workshops, endurance paddles, an 8-week PATH outreach session for cancer survivors, Novice Programs, and race registrations to local and national races.
