Fledgling Summerville Cat Cafe Launching Kickstarter Next Week

Mews + Brews Cat Café, the recently announced project that aims to open late this year, will next month launch a Kickstarter campaign to help cover the cost of securing and renovating a location in Summerville. You can donate to the effort beginning on May 3rd.

“We’ve been working really hard behind the scenes to get the word out about the cat cafe and build the Kickstarter,” said founder Cait Cox. “The support has been incredible, and we’re excited to work together with our community to make this happen. We can’t wait to launch the Kickstarter and get one step closer to opening Summerville’s first cat cafe!”

Mews + Brews has already partnered with Dorchester Paws to foster the cats for the café’s “Cat Lounge” where guests can spend time with adoptable felines. The business has also collaborated with local artist Charmed & Cozy to design several exclusive Kickstarter rewards.

“We wanted to give people something really special for pledging to our Kickstarter,” Cox said. “Charmed & Cozy designed the cutest stickers, pins, and t-shirts I’ve ever seen, so it’s safe to say that our Kickstarter pledges will be worth it. These rewards will be limited edition designs exclusively for Kickstarter supporters.”

Kickstarter is an “all-or-nothing platform,” so Mews + Brews total goal must be met for them to get any of the funds. The crowdfunding campaign is set to launch at 8 am on May 3rd, 2022.

Once open, Mews + Brews plans to offer pre-packaged drinks and food items from local vendors. Visitors will be able to enjoy their purchases by the bar, or take their food and drink into the cat lounge to spend time with the adoptable cats from Dorchester Paws.
