Covelli Enterprises, the largest franchisee of Panera Bread, is partnering with MUSC Boeing Center for Children’s Wellness (BCCW) through the launch of its inaugural Chip in for Children’s Mental Health campaign. In honor of Mental Health Awareness month, from May 9th through 22nd, a portion of proceeds from all Chocolate Chipper cookies sold at 18 Covelli-owned and operated Panera Bread locations in South Carolina, will support this vital initiative.

“In the past several years mental health has become a focal point in our country,” said Sam Covelli, CEO and Owner of Covelli Enterprises. “The need for mental and behavioral health services are at an all-time high, especially among children and young adults. At Covelli Enterprises we see it as our duty to do our part to support organizations such as MUSC Boeing Center for Children’s Wellness that are at the forefront of addressing this crucial need within our communities.”

The MUSC Arts in Healing team provide mental health counseling support to those in the hospital and our community. In partnership with BCCW, Arts in Healing is facilitating the Clinical Art Therapy Initiative (CATI) within local schools. This initiative is the first art therapy program used throughout the Charleston County School District to help children identify, explore, and transform emotional and social difficulties. This vital program is made possible by philanthropic contributions and relying on gracious donors to meet the high need for mental health and wellness support for children and adolescents.

“There is a national children’s mental health crisis and South Carolina is no exception,” said Mark Scheurer, M.D., Chief, Children’s & Women’s. “The MUSC Arts in Healing program provides a safe and tangible method for our youth to address underlying fears, anxieties, and concerns. The joy and healing the therapy team helps create is possible because of our community and philanthropic-minded brands like Panera.”

MUSC Boeing Center for Children’s Wellness will also benefit during the months of May and June from the company’s Operation Dough-Nation program, which encourages customers to make monetary donations in boxes located at the register in Panera Bread bakery-cafes.

Chocolate Chipper cookies can be purchased online at www.panerabread.com or on the Panera app for Rapid Pick-Up, Curbside, Delivery, and Catering.
