Lime, City of Charleston, and MUSC Health Launch New E-Bike Sharing Program

On Friday, May 6th, Lime, a transportation company specializing in electric vehicles, launched a new e-bike sharing program in Charleston with support from the City and the Medical University of South Carolina’s health system.

Lime is deploying a fleet of more than 200 of its new Gen4 e-bike, which comes equipped with a swappable, interchangeable battery. The launch makes Charleston one of the only cities in North America to have a fleet of Gen4 e-bikes on the streets, joining major cities like San Diego and Washington, DC. Lime will also bring Lime Access, its global equity program, to Charleston to provide 70% discounted rides to eligible residents.

“Lime is thrilled to be bringing our brand new e-bikes to Charleston and to provide a top-of-the-line bike share program to residents with the help of our partners at the Medical University of South Carolina,” said Robert Gardner, Senior Manager of Government Relations at Lime. “We’ve worked hand-in-hand with our partners in city government and in the community to design a bikeshare system that will provide a safe, fun, and sustainable way for people to get where they need to go in Charleston. We are proud to be bringing our worldwide equity program we call Lime Access to Charleston as well, which provides 70% discounts to eligible residents to ensure our electric vehicles are available to all. We look forward to seeing residents and visitors out there enjoying our Gen4 e-bikes, especially as high gas prices make sustainable ways to get around even more important.”
