Hotel Bennett to Host “An Evening with P-Nut on the Plaza” on May 26th
On the eve of Charleston’s iconic arts event, Spoleto Festival USA, Hotel Bennett will welcome a local legend for a special event. In partnership with Inside Out Magazine, the hotel will host Joseph “P-Nut” Johnson on Thursday, May 26th for an evening of art and poetry on the outdoor plaza at Gabrielle overlooking Marion Square Park.
Born in 1955 and raised in the Holy City, P-Nut is a self-taught artist who creates highly personal, yet easily relatable works that are uniquely Charleston. His choice of bold colors in depictions of daily life and the lively neighborhood scenes of Charleston’s East Side are richly imbued with the aesthetics of African-American folk art.
The event is complimentary, and attendees may enter for a chance to win a signed original by P-Nut himself.
