The Blood Connection and MUSC Health Recognize National Trauma Awareness Month with Multiple Blood Drives

Published

on

May is National Trauma Awareness Month and The Blood Connection (TBC) is partnering with MUSC Health and MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital for multiple blood drives.

Wednesday and Thursday, May 18th and 19th, TBC will bring its mobile units to two different locations on the MUSC campus from 9 am to 2 pm. Those who donate blood on Wednesday or Thursday will receive a $10 eGift card. For every blood donor, TBC will donate $10 to MUSC Turning the Tide Violence Intervention Program.

Appointments are available at thebloodconnection.org/national-trauma. One donation can save up to three lives.

The Blood Connection is a blood provider for MUSC Health hospitals. Blood collected by TBC is tested and delivered to one of three major hospital systems in the Tri-county area. Blood products are often used in trauma situations such as natural disasters, car accidents, or shootings. It is the blood on the shelves that saves lives in trauma and ER cases, which is why a stable blood supply is important. Right now, TBC has an urgent need for O negative, O positive, A negative, and B negative blood.
