Charleston County Parks’ Summer Entertainment Series Returns in June

Charleston County Parks’ popular Summer Entertainment Series is back! The nine-week show series, held at James Island and Wannamaker County Parks, kicks off June 8th.

Intended for children and their parents or chaperones, the Summer Entertainment Series features different entertainers and presenters each week, giving families an opportunity to enjoy entertainment in the parks. Shows are held at 10 am on Wednesdays at James Island County Park’s Edisto Hall, and on Thursdays at North Charleston Wannamaker County Park’s Cypress Hall. Arrive early for good seating.

Admission to each showing is $4 per child in advance, or $5 on the day of the event if it is not sold out. The series is recommended for ages 4 and up. Ages 2 and under and chaperones or parents are free with child admission. At least one chaperone per eight children is required. Advance registration is recommended and is available by calling 843-795-4386.

Magic by Chaz

The Charleston Museum

Come see an exciting presentation about the snakes, turtles and alligators that live in the Lowcountry!

Insects Insanity with the City of Charleston
What has six jointed legs, a thorax and compound eyes? Insects! City of Charleston educators will teach you about the many characteristics of these creepy animals. Participants will be transformed into a “human insect” and learn the differences between insects and other creepy crawlies.

The Break Circuit
Enjoy a high-flying stunt and break dance show mixed with a little comedy! The Break Circuit group will teach dance moves, rhythm and play dance incorporated games!

Wo’Se of Charleston
Come experience Africa and Gullah-Geechee culture through songs, stories and percussion sounds as Queen Atterberry shares her experience of living in traditional and modern African culture.

Birds of Prey

The Edisto Serpentarium is providing an exciting program about our scaly friends! Animals are provided by a handler and participants will be allowed to touch, feel and ask questions.

Regular park admission ($2 per person) applies to individuals and groups that are not pre-registered for the Summer Entertainment Series or other daily programs.
