The Charleston Opera Theater today announced that it will host multiple Piccolo Spoleto Festival performances. You can see the schedule below.

The Charleston Opera Theater and the Summerville Orchestra are partnering to stage a double bill of Bach’s Coffee Cantata and Menotti’s The Telephone to be held at Mercantile and Mash in downtown Charleston. Both will be performed in English. Performances will take place on:

  • Thursday, June 2nd at 5 pm
  • Friday, June 3rd at 6 pm
  • Saturday, June 4th at 4 pm and 6:30 pm

The entire performance will last approximately 1 hour 15 minutes and will have a brief intermission where concessions will be available. The project was funded in part by the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs and the City of North Charleston Cultural Arts Program through their joint administration of the Lowcountry Quarterly Arts Grant Program and the South Carolina Arts Commission which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation of SC.

The Charleston Opera Theater will also take part in “Opera on King Street,” an event hosted at Pauline Books and Media (243 King Street). These performances will include popular selections from opera’s most beloved works performed by professional singers in an intimate setting. Each performance is free to attend, but seating is limited.

Interested parties can catch “Opera on King Street” on Wednesday, June 1st at noon and on Friday, June 10th at 7 pm.
