Colleton Medical Center Earns Acute Stroke Ready Hospital Certification
WALTERBORO, S.C. (May 24, 2022) – Following an evaluation of performance standards, Colleton Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark as a Certified Acute Stroke Ready Hospital.
Colleton Medical Center underwent a rigorous onsite review on Monday, May 23. During the visit, a Joint Commission reviewer evaluated compliance with related certification standards including early identification and rapid treatment of stroke/stroke symptoms, program management, patient/family education, and the delivery of related acute care. The collaborative relationship between the hospital and Colleton County Fire Rescue was also recognized for its efforts to expedite the care provided in the field and upon arrival at the Emergency Department. Joint Commission standards are developed in consultation with health care experts and providers, measurement experts, and patients. The reviewer also conducted onsite observations and interviews.
