Mika Gadsden Confirms She Plans to Run for Mayor of Charleston

Mika Gadsden, the founder of the Charleston Activist Network, this week confirmed that she intends to run for mayor of Charleston. Once the campaign is official, Gadsden will face incumbent John Tecklenburg, City Councilman Peter Shahid, and Army veteran and public affairs professional Clay Middleton in the 2023 mayoral election.

Gadsden had previously mentioned her possible mayoral run on both the Charleston Activist Network Instagram account and its associated Twitch stream, but she took a step towards making it official by telling The Post & Courier’s Emma Whalen that a formal announcement is currently being planned.
