Bluffton MLK Observance Committee Presents the 7th Annual Juneteenth Festival
The countdown has begun! In just two weeks, the Bluffton community will celebrate emancipation and freedom for all during the annual Bluffton Juneteenth Festival, June 17 – 19. The goal of this three-day event is to educate and honor the strength and prosperity surrounding the Black experience.
This year, the Bluffton Juneteenth Festival will kick-off with Black Food Truck Friday on Friday, June 17, 5 – 9 p.m. at Eagles Field, 155 Buck Island Rd. This event will host 10 Black-owned food trucks featuring menus ranging from Gullah and Caribbean inspired to cool, sweet treats. While there, guests will be thrilled by a DJ-battle with entertainment provided by DJ T-Gramz, along with Spades and Cornhole tournaments open to participants of all ages. This family-inclusive event is free and open to the public, registration for the Spade tournament can be found online at blufftonmlk.org.
The fun resumes on Saturday, June 18 at the Burnt Church Distillery, 120 Bluffton Rd., 4 – 10 p.m. with live entertainment, performing artists, food and artisan vendors, a kid’s zone, drum circle, and much more! This free event will feature one of South Carolina’s most popular musical sensations, The Promised Land Band, in addition to performances by John Simmons, Energy Evolution Drum Circle, gospel singer Angela Bonaparte, DJ T-Gramz with Queen Quet and Dr. Toure, along with readings by Bluffton Mayor, Lisa Sulka and Town Council Member, Fred Hamilton.
Shuttles will be provided to and from this event beginning at 3:30 p.m. from Red Cedar Elementary School, 10 Box Elder St. where ample, free parking is available. Personal lawn chairs are welcomed and encouraged.
The series of events will conclude on Sunday, June 19 at Burnt Church Distillery with the 2nd annual Jazz Brunch, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. This ticketed event will include a catered buffet from Melly Mel’s, along with mimosa and dessert bars. Additional beverages including beer and wine are available for purchase separately. Advance ticket sales are discounted ($75), and purchases can be made at blufftonmlk.org through midnight, June 11. Week-of purchases ($100) will be available while seating remains open. Tickets are selling fast, so reserve yours today!
