North Charleston Fire Department Hiring Firefighters
The North Charleston Fire Department is hiring firefighters. No prior experience is required. Those who already have firefighter and emergency medical technician certification are eligible for a higher starting salary. Benefits include a 24-hour on/48-hour off schedule, on-the-job training, insurance, retirement, and the opportunity to help citizens in emergencies.
Firefighter starting salary: $43,920
Firefighter/EMT starting salary: $45,880
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
– at least 18 years old
– high school diploma or G.E.D.
– pass a background check
– pass a drug screening
– pass a medical physical
Applications will be accepted through July 1, 2022. The firefighter testing process begins July 11, 2022.
The firefighter testing process includes a National Firefighter Selection Test, job-related physical ability test (JRPAT), and interview. The National Firefighter Selection Test is an entry-level basic skills test that measures three basic skills: reading comprehension, mathematics and listening comprehension. The National Firefighter Selection Test has a study guide and practice test available online for purchase at www.ApplyToServe.com/Study.
