Sheryl Crow Takes Charleston Fans Down Memory Lane

Singer Songwriter Offers Up an Array of Hits from Stellar Career

30 years into a stellar career Sheryl Crow is gorgeous, engaging and every bit a rock goddess on stage. Saturday (June 11th) night, before roughly seven thousand fans at the all-new Credit One Stadium on Daniel Island, Crow took concert goers on trip down memory lane that started nearly three decades ago.

60 years young and dressed in white, the angelic songstress and multi-talented guitar slinging entertainer didn’t disappoint those who showed up for a Sheryl Crow hit parade. Backed by luminous light show and five very capable musicians Crow went right to work pumping out hit after hit, much to the delight of fans who prefer to revisit familiar songs.

Although her musical journey began in the late 1980’s Crow’s 13 song set stayed pretty much between the years 1993 and 2002, adding in ‘Cross Creek Road’ from her 2019 release’ Threads’, and ‘Forever’ from a recent documentary. A cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘Everything is Broken’ which she performed with tour partner Jason Isbell was a nice added bonus.

She delighted fans right from the start offering up ‘If It Makes You Happy’ from her self-titled 1996 before ripping into ‘All I Wanna Do’ her 1994 chart topping single off ‘Tuesday Night Music Club’, following with ‘My Favorite Mistake’. Several artists have recorded Cat Stevens’ 1967 track ‘The First Cut is the Deepest‘, including Rod Stewart (4 weeks at No#1) but Crow’s 2003 rendition is by far the most recent and easily the most beautiful vocally.

In between numbers Crow engaged the crowd, amusing fans with back stories and how she and fellow members of the band spent their day in Charleston. Morning at the aquarium, followed by lunch and a 57-minute escape from Time Traveler Escape Games drew a few laughs from the audience. Jokingly she admitted the escape room nearly prevented her from making it to the gig.

Whether Crow is wielding an electric or acoustic guitar she commands the stage. She closed out her reflective concert with ‘Everyday is a Winding Road’ and the feel good number ‘Soak Up the Sun’ from 2002’s ‘C’mon, C’mon’. With that she bid a fond farewell leaving all in attendance on a high note. Sheryl Crow is much like a fine wine, she has aged well, she’s upbeat and her voice has stayed the course.
