Press Release

Seafields at Kiawah Island (“Seafields”), the new 62+ Life Plan Community opening in 2024 beside Freshfields Village, is excited to debut their new construction site banner, transformed into an inspiring work of art by students from Angel Oak Elementary, Haut Gap Middle School and St. John’s High School. The winners and honorable mentions selected from the total of 219 entries are prominently featured within the overall fence design which encloses the current construction site.

Participating young artists were provided with the outline of the Seafields logomark and were encouraged to express their creative visions using whatever medium or materials they desired. As a thank you for their participation and support, each school was gifted a $500 donation to use for art supplies along with a goodie bag filled with an art gift set. Each winner was honored with a pizza party for their class and recognized, along with the honorable mentions, by a certificate of excellence.

“Seeing the results of this young artists initiative was an enjoyable and fulfilling experience for our Seafields team. We received entries from many talented budding local  creatives, and we are thrilled to have this now beautiful fence gracing the future site of Seafields,” said Richard Ackerman, Managing Partner, Big Rock Partners, the developer of the property.

Conceived to establish meaningful connections to the outdoors and the greater Lowcountry community, Seafields residents will be given opportunities to participate in philanthropic and civic efforts which will actively engage with, and benefit, local communities. Along with additional initiatives created to engage and expand Seafields’ connections to the residents of  the Sea Islands communities, they will also utilize their proximity to Charleston, the cultural capital of the South, and partner with renown local art and cultural institutions to develop robust programming for residents. Given Seafields’ enviable location – surrounded by some of the Lowcountry’s most coveted beaches, rivers, and marshes – additional recreational options will include boating partnerships at the nearby Bohicket Marina.

Reservations for all units are available through Kiawah Island Real Estate, the sole real estate brokerage firm with offices on Kiawah Island. To date, approximately 40 of the 90 residences  have been reserved.
