The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) today released the following statement regarding the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, which effectively overturns Roe v. Wade:
“The Medical University of South Carolina is committed to compliance with state and federal laws and regulations and will continue to review the impact of the decision today by the U.S. Supreme Court (to overturn Roe v. Wade) on our education and patient care missions. As more information related to the decision-making of other federal bodies, accreditation organizations and the like becomes available, MUSC leadership will take the necessary steps to ensure patients and their families continue to receive high-quality care.
As always, MUSC Health remains committed to providing comprehensive reproductive health care for the citizens of South Carolina and their families. We affirm that all people should be able to access the health care they need and that our providers should be able to offer that best-practice care in life-threatening circumstances, without fear of criminalization.”
