Basic Projects’ Restaurants Offering “The Dreamboats” Spicy Margarita for Charity
This Friday, The Dreamboats will launch a local fundraising campaign as part of their “Row to Grow” program. The Dreamboats are Basic Projects co-founder Ben Towill and Chef Charlie Layton who are setting out on a wild adventure this winter – to row the Atlantic Ocean, unassisted.
The Charleston-based, British-born duo will participate in the 2022 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, an extreme competition in which teams row a total of 3,000 nautical miles across the Atlantic Ocean, a journey that takes most teams 32–86 days to complete. The team will row in honor of two environmentally-minded charities, The Green Heart Project, a local program that builds garden-based experiential learning projects and 2041, an environmental foundation created by polar explorer Robert Swan.
Starting July 1st, in partnership with Ghost Tequila and Jack Rudy Cocktail Co., Basic Projects’ three Charleston properties (Basic Kitchen, Post House, and Sullivan’s Fish Camp) will offer the ‘Dreamboat’ cocktail, a spicy margarita, with proceeds from the drink going straight to their Row to Grow fund.
