Study Ranks South Carolina as the 14th Worst State for Health and Wellness
Life Extension, a nutrition, science, and health outlet, recently released its study on the “Best and Worst States for Health & Wellness in 2022,” and South Carolina ranked as being the 14th worst in the country.
To complete the study, the company says they used the “most recent data from the CDC, Census Bureau, and National Parks Service on physical and mental health, access to parks and nature, and interest in activities such as yoga and meditation across all 50 states and D.C.”
- Among the key findings in South Carolina:
- 73.4% have exercised in the past month
- 62.5% reported “no poor mental health days” in the past month
- .2% of land is devoted to national parks
- The state accounted for the No. 44 most Google searches for “meditation” and No. 31 most for “yoga”
- The 5 best states: California, Arizona, Florida, Washington, and Hawaii
- The 5 worst states: Alabama, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Iowa
- Regional: 7 of the 10 best states are out West, 7 of the 10 worst are in the South
