The Riviera, Charleston’s 1930s Art Deco theater, today announced two new shows –  four-time Grammy-winner Jimmie Vaughan on Friday, September 23rd at 8 pm and Andy McKee on Monday, September 26th at 8 pm. The concerts are open to ages 18 years and older, and tickets are available for purchase on Ticketmaster.

Vaughan (above right), a blues rock guitarist and singer, was a founding member of the Fabulous Thunderbirds, formed with harpist Kim Wilson in the late 70’s. He’s also recorded numerous albums as a solo artist, including 2021’s Jimmie Vaughan – The Jimmie Vaughan Story, a 5-CD compilation of his best music. Vaughn was also named Traditional Blues Male Artist of the Year at the 2020 Blues Music Awards.

“When I talk about country and blues, they’re the same thing,” Jimmie Vaughan said. “When I was a kid, I didn’t understand the difference. Everybody always asked me, ‘Why do you want to play blues? Why don’t you play country?’…And the answer is, ‘it’s American music.’ I’m tired of trying to pigeonhole everything. I want to bring it together; it comes from the same place.”

Andy McKee (right) entertains both the eye and the ear as he magically transforms the steel string guitar into a full orchestra via his use of altered tunings, tapping, percussive hits ,and a signature two-handed technique. His crossover success has helped him to achieve millions of YouTube viewers, underscoring his emergence as one of today’s most unique and influential artists.
