The Miller Gallery Moving to New Location and Pivoting to Hybrid Model this Fall
After 5 years on East Bay Street, The Miller Gallery is changing course. The gallery will soon move to a new location and shift its focus to online art sales and “curated, artful experiences” by taking part in art fairs and events in cities like Dallas, New York, South Florida, and, of course, Charleston.
“Our gallery storefront has given us incredible opportunities to connect with our clients and provide a welcoming space for artists, writers, musicians, and designers, and to showcase innovative artwork by our beloved roster of artists,” Founder/Director Sarah Miller Gelber said. “With the silver lining of COVID forcing our online gallery to expand, we are so excited for the possibilities that this new gallery model provides.”
The gallery will also be expanding their roster of artists and increasing the frequency of collection releases throughout the year.
Miller’s new headquarters will be on upper Meeting Street and will open this fall. This is where the gallery will handle all business including client consultations, photography of online inventory, packing, shipping, marketing, and more. It will be open to the general public by appointment only. Behind the offices is the “Art Garden,” which will be used to host artist luncheons and cocktail receptions throughout the year.
“I want to thank Charleston and its visitors for five beautiful years on East Bay Street,” Gelber said. “We’re a big small town and building a business like this takes a village — you all have helped shape the Charleston art community by supporting us and the artists we represent. My hope is that we can all stay connected as we morph and grow — we’re not closing our doors, we are opening ourselves up to the world.”
A final celebration in the East Bay gallery space will take place from noon to 5 pm on August 20th, 2022. All are welcome to attend.
