The Lonon Foundation Announces 6th Annual Hike for Mike Fundraiser Featuring Family Yoga, Mindfulness Sessions, Music, and More
The Lonon Foundation, a Charleston nonprofit that provides resources to children affected by their parent or caregiver’s cancer, today announced their annual fundraising event, Hike for Mike. The event, held in honor of Michael Lonon, promotes his passion for nature, hiking, and the Lowcountry. You can learn more about Lonon’s story below.
The sixth annual Hike for Mike will be held at Palmetto Islands County Park on Saturday, October 1st, 2022, from 12 pm to 4 pm. This family-friendly event will include family yoga, mindfulness sessions, various kid’s arts and crafts, food trucks, drinks, live music throughout the day, a raffle, and more.
Admission is $25 and includes one free adult t-shirt. Children 12 and under receive free admission, and the first 75 children will be given a goodie bag sponsored by Wonder Works. Tickets can be purchased online at https://www.
“We are so excited to finally gather in person to hold this amazing event to raise money and awareness for kids impacted by a parent’s cancer,” said The Lonon Foundation founder, Anna Lonon. “Hike for Mike is really about having fun and finding joy in nature, in art, and in play, but it also helps support the many resources the foundation is able to provide to families facing cancer in the Lowcountry.”
Over the last six years, The Lonon Foundation (TLF) has served families from across the Lowcountry in various stages of a parent or caregiver’s diagnosis and treatment. All proceeds from the event will support these families and go towards the organization’s programs and services.
Michael Lonon lost his battle with cancer at just 32-years-old, after fighting the disease for more than three years. He left behind a 4-year-old son, Jack, and a 3-month-old daughter, Harper. Since 2016 and the first Hike for Mike, TLF has raised more than $100,000 to help children in the Lowcountry, like Mike’s, deal with the impact of having a parent or caregiver with cancer.
